Watch the birds fly with the curve of the sky
Giving chase to the sun and its gift of life.
And watch the herds walk over plains of cracked earth
Seeking out the floods to wash away their thirst
But watch the humans stamp over all that they see,
No thoughts spared for others, we take what we need.
We eat where we stand, just plant a new crop.
Life is so easy up here on the top.
The earth was made of land and sea.
It spread its seeds and grew the trees.
It paved the way for man and beast,
So all could live in harmony
But the new design was incomplete,
And faulted in its symmetry,
For man grew strong and bent on greed
And rid the earth of its bounty.
As we came out of the seas and onto the land,
Life’s hold began to slip from its hand.
Though man had grown strong all was not lost,
For life will go on no matter the cost.
And when the earth is through the freeze will come,
Undoing all the wrongs its inmates have done
And paving the way for a fresh beginning,
And the chance for life to see what it was missing.
The earth was made of land and sea.
It spread its seeds and grew the trees.
It paved the way for man and beast,
So all could live in harmony
But the new design was incomplete,
And faulted in its symmetry,
For man grew strong and bent on greed
And rid the earth of its bounty.
Juxtaposing poetic balladry with roaring feedback and warped piano lines, the Vermonter's music is as stunning as it is unsettling. Bandcamp New & Notable Jan 21, 2024
